A great short called “World Cinema” that I’m sharing for V Day. It stars Josh Brolin and Grant Heslov (writer of Good Night, and Good Luck and The Ides of March), and is directed by the Coen Brothers.

It’s said that the man who first compared a woman to a flower must have been a genius. The next one who parroted it was undoubtedly an ass. What are we to call the man who utters it third?

Yeah. Debt. It is fair. The whole system is fair. Remember that. Buy more things, because it’s only fair you get all the things.

So I subscribed to the Tea Party Nation newsletter in 2011 — not sure why, maybe I hate myself — but sometimes it’s entertaining. For instance, today when the subject line read “We no longer all Americans.” I wondered if the Onion had maybe taken over copy for Tea Party Nation. Then I read the e-mail (text below) and I’m still not sure. So….
There was a point in this life of this nation that we could look at each other and realize we were all Americans. There was a point in this Republic’s history where certain issues transcended politics and our elected officials would put the nation and its well being above politics.
No more.
Something has happened in the last few days that shows us this is no longer true and that does not bode well for the future of America.
What is it? What has happened and why does it mean a united America may be only something of the past?
Yeah. Free yourself from the binding liberal tyranny thats grammar! Let’s go back to the good ol’ days! Grammarless days! Days were tense agreements were just for the forners and the foren languages! Return America to its former glory! Or is it it’s former glory!? Doesn’t matter! In past America you tell grammar what it is and is not! America for the Americans!
Ok. That’s out of my system now. No one is perfect.
